Fund Raising Success!
AWLL would like to thank everyone who participated in our Dog and Cat Treat Fundraiser to benefit the Goathouse Refuge in Pittsboro during the month of August. We raised close to $85.00!
The monies raised will help pay off the high medical bills for three kitties that the Goathouse help rehabilitate, Selina, Freyja and Orion.
You can still donate directly to the Goathouse’s vet: Hill Creek Veterinary Hospital in Pittsboro. Call (919)542-1141 and make a donation towards the Goathouse Refuge's vet bill.
Please continue to support the Goathouse Refuge so they can continue to help cats who are in need.

The Goathouse Refuge
The Goathouse is struggling with big financial problems, mostly due to the high volume of unforeseen medical emergencies they have had to deal with these past few months. We would like to help three kitties in need. Below are their back stories:
Selina & Freyja
Selina and her seven babies were rescued from a high kill gassing shelter, and although they looked healthy, after a couple of days her babies all of a sudden started to crash. They were rushed to the vet were they were given emergency care, tested for panleuk (Feline panleukopenia ), and when it became clear that was the illness that was affecting them, they had to be isolated, and put on fluids, penicillin, tamiflu, were forcefed, and monitored around the clock. Even with all their efforts, six babies died, and only Selina and her kitten, Freyja survived. The resulting bill, however, is for the whole family: close to $1000.
Orion
Orion is a gorgeous, gentle lion, who was surrendered to a high kill shelter. He is nine years old and was diagnosed with diabetes almost a year ago. He has made many trips to the vet since his original diagnosis (amounting to $800 in vet bills in the past couple of months alone) and requires daily shots of insulin as well as a special diet to manage his diabetes. The supply of insulin for one month is $75 ($900 total for the past year), and this does not include the supplies for the injections, the supplies for his blood testing (he needs to be tested regularly to make sure he is receiving the right dose of insulin), or his special diet.
Orion himself is taking handling his diabetes like a champ - he loves to sleep in high places to overlook his little kingdom.
Here’s how you can help! Purchase a bag(s) of A Whole Lotta Love treats.
During the month of August, we will be selling bags of bite-size dog treats. They are available in two flavors; Bark-A-Que Treats and (Wheat-free) Gingerbread Biscuits for only $5.00 for a ½ lb. bag. (For every ½ lb. bag sold, $2.00 will go directly to the Goathouse Refuge to help pay for Selina and Freyja and Orion’s vet bills)
Also for sale are bags of bite-size cat treats. The tuna flavored treats are only $4.00 for a ¼ lb. bag. (For every ¼ lb. bag sold, $1.00 will go directly to the Goathouse Refuge to help pay for Selina and Freyja and Orion’s vet bills)
To purchase treats, visit our store page link, dog and cat treats.
