Animals do well in their familiar surroundings as long as they have some human interaction, food and water.   They enjoy being in their own bed, playing with their own toys and the scents of home they are accustomed to.  The only thing that has changed is that their owner is away and someone else is coming in to look in on your pet. Every pet has its own unique personality.  Only you know if your dog would thrive in a kennel or doggy day-care or in the comforts of their own home.
